No you follow the setup on your phone. when you get to the pairing setup you will just find the learn button on your opener and press it quickly and your all set. No need to have your remote. I would recommend a new remote as a backup just in case your wifi is out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You shouldn't need anything but the MyQ Garage Hub and Sensor that came in the MyQ box. Download the MyQ app on your phone and follow the instructions. Do not install the hub or sensor until paired. Next install the sensor on the garage door. Then, "pair" the hub to the door opener using the learn/program button on the door opener. You may need to do this step several times to get the hub and opener "paired." When successfully "paired", the door opener should blink the onboard light and then cause the door to open.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably not a problem. I had no idea that my 25 year old opener would be capable of adding a new remote if I needed one until I got this and the instructions showed how to have this learn the opener, the same way a new remote would learn. Very easy
