Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.MyQ operates by getting the remote code when you hold it close to the overhead door opener unit and press the button to sync. The part you attach to the garage door just acts as a sensor to show it is opening or closing. If the "eyes" refer to what cancels the door closing if an object breaks its path, then as far as I know it will still function, but that is a big injury risk if an animal or person is standing there when the door is closing. I had a question about my installation and contacted Chamberlain's support through the MyQ app. They responded within 24 hours and were helpful, so maybe ask them for the best answer.
