The sensor that installs on the garage door expects to be flat once the door is open. So it would not be able to confirm that the gate has swung open. I'm not sure if this would cause an error or any other problems. Maybe you could mount the sensor on a flap that would get pushed up by the gate when it's open? I'm assuming there is just a mercury switch inside of the sensor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not tried this on a gate. I would expect it to work as long as the sensor component is mounted so that from open to close it goes from horizontal to vertical. Your gate would also need to be within the reach of your WiFi signal. Word of caution. I don't recall seeing any rating for use outdoors.
