It can be set up to act only as a chime by linking the cameras without connecting to the chime pro network but the chime itself will still be connected to your wifi since that is how it works.

Please try again later.This really doesn't increase the the network usage, it just simply connect to the camera so that your range is farther,other than that it is really only used if you have it set to ring on motion settings in my case I have it set to only ring when someone presses the doorbell because I get notifications on my phone for motion settings
