You need to put the key in the ignition before you step on the brake and put the vehicle in gear or it will automatically shut off. If you remote start and don’t go to the vehicle within 15 minutes it will also shut off. It does not unlock the vehicle. It only starts it. No one can drive it unless they put the key in.

Please try again later.Car needs to be locked in order to use remote start, if your vehicle has a key fob that needs to be in the car for it to run the remote start over rides that feature so you can have the fob with you when using remote start. Alarm system still works while using remote start feature.

Additionally, no one is able to drive your vehicle without the actual key in the ignition. As soon as you try to put the vehicle into gear while on using the remote start, the vehicle shuts off.
