Our car does have push button so we need to keep our original fob with the new fob for the car to work. But to answer your question, the original fob still functions as usual. The new fob just won't open ths rear hatch in our vehicle. They said it has something to do with the complexity of the wiring in our vehicle (Mazda CX-5). But we don't use that feature anyways and it still works on the original fob if we ever decide to use it.
