• Yes. It has three modes. Fast, Slow and no rotation. I have not had too many problem with tangling unless I snagged it in a wrong position. Brush untangled and released the hair easily as soon as I stopped the rotation. Love the brush, style with one hand !

• It only spins if you activate the spin feature. Your choice. I have only gotten tangled once and that was my fault. I spun it the wrong direction. That does take a little practice to get it right. But it wasn't difficult and I still have all my hair. I like the spin brush and how it makes my hair look.
