According to my research on general electrical codes for California*, you can use an extension cord for portable appliances such as coffee makers. This cord is rated for 13 Amps and 1625 Watts at 125V. It is 10 feet long. If you can use an 6 or 8 foot cord instead, IMHO that would be preferable. In general, this looks like it would be a safe option for a coffee maker. * see https://www.sandi.net/staff/sites/default/files_link/staff/docs/custodial-services/workplace%20safety/Fire%20Prev.%20Bureau%20Extension%20Cord%20Policy.pdf
