“What is the vertical height of the openings for the top and bottom shelves?”

• Top shelf, roughly six inches. Enough for a gaming console or Blu-ray player, etc. Bottom, roughly 9- 91/2 inches. I have videogame cases down there, standing with a little room above them if you can picture that as an example.
