It uses a USB port, I don't think a ipad has one. If you have a 4th generation iPad or newer maybe the Apple - Lightning-to-USB Camera Adapter can do it. This is a quote from a different website. You can also connect other USB accessories like keyboards, microphones, and printers. Not every USB accessory will work with this adapter; the iPad needs to support it in order for it work.
