“Is there a way to mute the mic or some how stop the sound of the mic and just have the audio for the headset because I have a blue snow ball mic and I want to use that for my mic but I don't have a headset yet?”

Yes you can mute. It has a nice red light on the mic indicating the device is muted. The muting is via button on the left headset.
