“Is it normal for metal pin receivers to be missing inside the female connector end? For example all 4 of the sata cables provided are missing metal pin on the end that would plug into the power supply unit itself. All 4 are missing in the exact same spot.”

Yes. Not all connectors are need for all peripherals

I can't say for 100% if I saw the same thing on this unit when I bought it, but it's one of those things I do not pay attention to due to the normalcy of it.
