Please try again later.It’s a very important role in keeping your cpu from overheating even with a cooler installed it must have thermal paste the hotter a cpu the worse your computer will run and the cpu itself over time will become damaged let’s say your cpu is running at 82 degrees Celsius with no thermal paste after adding the thermal paste the cpu will run around 40 degrees Celsius a good note is unless the cpu is at 100% usage like a stress test normal editing and gaming you don’t want it above 67 degrees Celsius

It is placed on the CPU and then, the fan cooler is mounted on top of the CPU with the thermal paste squished in-between the two. The amount of thermal paste used on a CPU is usually pea sized. I've heard that's about 1/10th ounce of paste used. Not sure if that is accurate though.
