• A:Answer Thank you for your question. The Maker machines can cut things that the Explore machines cannot. they can engrave, deboss, cut almost any fabric, certain leathers, basswood, and chipboards, up to two millimeters thick because they can accommodate special tools for this purpose that the Explore machines cannot use. However, the Explore 4 will be faster than the Maker. And it can cut smart materials with out a mat that the Maker cannot. Also, the Explore 4 can cut materials with or without the mat, but the Maker requires a mat. There is also a Maker 4 that can cut without a mat and is fast, and can use the maker tools to cut those special materials.

• A:Answer Thank you for your question. You will probably want to start with the pink mat and use the blade that comes with the machine, the Premium Fine Point Blade and Housing. You will want to use the setting called simply, "Felt." The Deep point blade is great for more stiffened felt.
