You have to press the start button again. The first time it preheats. I had to read the instructions in the little black and white book, Owner's Manual. I had to read it to work mine the first time I used it, which was this weekend. I had to find the Owner's Manual, I had only looked at the recipe book.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It does take a couple of extra steps than the regular slow cooker. Once you hit "start" it will pre heat first. You then need to choose whether you brown, roast/bake or slow cook. The booklet explains this, though you may need to read it multiple times to really "get it". Hit start again, then HI or LOW and slow cook if that is what you want and hit the hours up or down.
