- Answer The lid is plastic of what type it is not marked. If it is a concern contact the manufacturer. We have used it many times and like it more than the old models. It is very easy to clean.

- Answer It gets hot but not excessively so. Regardless, when it's hot we always use pot holders when lifting or taking off the lid.
