Does it sear meat null

Yes. It has a sear function that works really well. I seared 2lb of diced steak then added tomatoes, onion, pepper, beans etc to make a chilli and changed the setting to pressure cook. It did a perfect job.

Yes it does sear meat. Very quick heat up also. You will love this unit it you buy one. My daughter has an Instant pot and says everything stick to the bowl something terrible.

Yes, I prefer to sear my meat in the crock pot so I can utilize the drippings. A small amount of white wine helps.
