• Thank you for contacting Crosley Brands. This item must be plugged up to a power outlet to function. The back up battery is only for the clock function. Kindest regards,

• This does not have 6-8 D cell battery capability like a boombox. It has only a 9 volt memory battery for the alarm circuits.
