How effective it will serve your needs depends on how you want to set it up, ie software or hardware based, as well as which RAID protocol you want to use. Ssd drives like this usually don't need protection through redundancy, however. Unless you're going for a raid 0 (both drives simply add capacity to drive letter) you may just want to either use some hdds (more cost effective) or use as individual drives... Short answer: yes, you can use these in a raid setup.
