Hello Chris, Thank you for reaching out to us, Yes — the Crucial X10 portable SSD is absolutely capable of storing and running games, including Steam titles, as long as your laptop supports USB‑C 10Gbps or 20Gbps speeds (USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 2x2, depending on the model). The Crucial X10 supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 and delivers up to ~2,100MB/s read and ~2,000MB/s write speeds depending on capacity. Crucial X10 SSD is QLC ( Nand ) based SSD. General operating system use and other standard computing (web browsing, gaming, office applications) tend to be either read-centric or perform small writes for a limited time, so day-to-day use and reading previously stored data are unaffected, and general performance reading data from the drive will greatly exceed a platter hard drive. The SLC-mode cache in this drive will manage fast write speeds for general use and short burst performance. If it becomes filled, the QLC NAND in this drive will continue caching, but does not do so as fast as the SLC-mode cache, resulting in a decrease in performance. If this is a regular use case for you, consider a TLC-based drive such as the MX500 or T500, which can manage excess caching more quickly due to its TLC NAND Meanwhile, if you have any further query, please feel free to visit our contact page: https://www.crucial.com/support/contact to know about other ways to reach out to us.
