• It can be used for that, but both devices need to have a USB-C port. Otherwise you need to buy an adapter cable

• The drive will work for this, and comes preformatted in exFAT which is supported by Windows 8 and later operating systems, or can be reformatted as needed. The included cable is USB C-to-C, which may require a USB C to USB A adapter or a separate USB C to USB A cable if the older system does not have USB C ports available.
