I just purchased this model of toaster. Bagel setting toasts on BOTH sides. In the instruction manual, it states the only difference in Bagel setting is it toasts longer.

Both sides of the bagel toasts evenly.

The user guide says it toast for a longer period of time...it does not get wider.

This toaster browns evenly for bagels which was a definite concern i had prior to my purchase. It works well for bread and bagels equally. I do not suggest using mini bagels because they are just too small for the roomy toaster slots.

Toasts on one side. No change in width though it is plenty wide for sliced bagel.

It will only toast the one side as long as you use the bagel setting.
