• NO! The toaster gets very "HOT" on the outer cover sides. I would not allow children or shaky handed adults to use this toaster. It will melt the bread bag if it gets close to sides. Even if you use the push up extension lever, it is still very hot on top and does not really elevate to a safe level.

• The front, back, sides, and dials are cool to touch while the Model: CPT-180 is in operation, but I wouldn't advise touching the top or toast openings where the heat rises and escapes.
