“does it have heating elements across so that the toasting is even if your bread is in the middle of the unit? My current unit toasts the bread on the edges darker than the middle piece. Also, with casseroles does the middle of the pan get brown”

The elements top and bottom, are tube shaped, extending side to side. So far, toasted bread and anything else I've used it for have been heated evenly.
