Q: QuestionAre you only able to use the grinder when using the single serve side? Can you put a combination of whole beans and already ground beans into the grinder? And lastly, will it run the grinder even if it has already ground beans in it?

Q: QuestionIs it smart enough to know if the carafe is not in place? Our current maker doesn't register if the carafe is in place or not, and we've set the coffee for the morning and (admittedly, DUMBLY) forgot to put the carafe in place only to wake up to a mess.

Q: QuestionDoes grinder have different settings (coarse, fine, etc.)? How do you set it to brew 1/2 a carafe?

• A:Answer No grinder settings. It is not hopper-fed and grinds the entire contents every time it runs; hrind is similar to countertop blade grinder (on the finer side of medium but lots of dust). You brew a half pot by using the appropriate amount of beans and water; since it tends to underexctract you'll probably take a couple times to figure the amount you actually need. Stopped using the built in grinder after a few days because it was more hassle than just using a separate one.
