• Because of the weight of the unit including its internal battery, for safety reasons it is not recommended to have the unit in an upright position without securing it to the wall. Thank you for your question!

• Yes, the item is heavy enough to be free standing. Most clients leave the battery backups flat on the floor unsecured so standing it upright is fine.
