The current models do not have the ability to communicate power loss to owners via a smartphone or other device. It has an audible alarm so anyone in proximity to the device can hear it. If you only have a modem and router plugged into the device, you should get around 20-30 minutes of run time when electricity is out. That time is dependent on the activity level of the two devices and the age of the battery back-up. Like any "battery" it degrades over time and will eventually need to be replaced.
