Please try again later.The instruction sheet indicates 2 operating positions: horizontally flat on its back and vertically hanging by the key-hole mounting slots in the back with power cord at the bottom. Mine is operating flat on its back. I didn't open the casing to check the battery orientation in the compartment but sealed lead acid batteries can be used in any position except upside-down as it promote electrodes corrosion.
