UPS operation with a generator is dependent on how well a generator will maintain the frequency (slew rate). If the power draw is changing rapidly and the generator output frequency is not stable enough for the UPS to sync with it, the UPS will go into battery mode and eventually shut down. Most newer generators do a better job of holding frequency stable, allowing the use of standard UPS. Older generators tend to be not as reliable. There is not a way to know whether the UPS will work or not without actually testing it. For fail safe operation, a UPS with a generator mode should be selected, but they are usually more expensive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our power went out for several days after the hurricane and it kept things hooked (modem, router & switches) up to it powered until its battery ran out. Since the power didn't come back up I started the generator that powers certain circuits in the house like the fridge, microwave and study where the UPS is and it recharged and did its job. How long it lasts really depends on how much (load) it has to keep powered up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, if the load attached is not more than the rated output of the UPS. It should keep things going for a few minutes while you start your generator.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the Cyber Power draws current from the default power source, whether that be AC or DC from a generator. It then stores the current in its internal battery to pass power to connected devices in the event the generator fails.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will work when the power is out until the battery is depleted. It can be charged with a generator.
