If your not a hardcore gamer, you don't really need a high spec monitor, most standard cheaper monitors run at 60hz (even if the computer can run the game at say 140fps, the monitor only caps out at 60fps) and 5-10ms response time, this is fine for casual gamers, but for more intense gamers a higher hz count and lower response time is usually better. As for my recommendation, I'd say the ASUS - VG245H 24” its about $170 (excluding tax) it is a 75hz display and has a response time of 1ms, which is pretty good.
