The top of the line processor (FX-9590) normally runs at 5.0Ghz but it is best suited for experienced enthusiasts who will monitor its heat output closely. CPUs that run at 5.0Ghz produce large amounts of heat (hence the water cooling) and consume higher amounts of electricity which tends to be exaggerated as to its significance by reviewers. In the northern tier states and particularly with those homeowners that heat with electricity or produce solar power, the electricity draw is not of any consequence. The high end FX processors have an instantaneous response capability that is seen in the top processors of the industry. Vitually all 6 core, 8 core and 10 core processors by Intel require water cooling and have similar heat production and wattage consumption issues while costing 2X to 8X as much. To their credit, AMD processors have a record of being very durable with long term functionality and a three year warranty.
