As long as you're not booting to that drive it should be just fine however we do not recommending attaching a hard drive that is infected with malware unless you are intending to format that drive. To avoid any issues and you intent to format the drive, you may want to consider booting from a utility disc or Windows installation media so that you can perform the format from an environment that is separate from your Windows environment.
