the motherboard in the current pc can’t get ddr4 ram the most it will go up to is 16gb ddr3 ram i would suggest replacing the motherboard to a Msi x470 ryzen 2 motherboard and a ryzen 5 2600 cpu

If you decide to upgrade the CPU to something higher, you may need to upgrade the motherboard accordingly depending on the socket and whether the motherboard still supports DDR3 or if it is changed to DDR4 RAM.
