“I bought a GE Smart switch, the on/off 3 wire 3 way switch. My lights flicked, and my bulbs are incomparable with the Adapter that came with the 3 wire switch, My question is , if I get the 4 wire- 3 way dimming switch do I need the adapter”

Hi Mitch. The socket adapter fits medium base lighting fixtures and only applies to our 3-wire Switch when using low wattage LED loads. If you home electrical system has a Neutral feed, then the 4-wire Switch can be utilized without the need for the socket adapter. Our support team can provide clarification on whether or not the 4-wire Switch is compatible with your electrical system. -C by GE Support
