Why is the view in black and white null

There is a selection you can make for night vision B/W or auto which will automatically at night turn to infrared so you can get a clearer picture. You can however use color at night too.

it needs more light, even though parts of the image are already very light, and has switched to infrared light.

The camera will take feed in color.
