No it doesn't. once the extender is set up to your home network, it can be moved to another room to provide better WiFi coverage in the area.

Please try again later.No After I plug the extender in an outlet near the router and press both the d-link and router wps buttons to sync together then I place the d-link in the downstairs or the floor above upstairs in an outlet and plug it in andwait until the unit range glow green with best range display. The idea is to extend the range finder in obscure locations .
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The range extender does NOT have to remain in the same room as the router - if it did, it would worse than useless. It will work in a different room, but I found that it will ONLY work at all if you leave the network name and password at their default values. Any changes to either will make it cease to work.
