Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. For Danby DCF038A2WDB-3 freezer, extension cord is not recommended because it pulls too much current and is continuously cycling on and off. It has to be directly plugged into a wall outlet dedicated solely to that appliance. That way it will not harm the unit and for safety measures too. Thank you. Regards, Jerlyn
