Didn't work for me when my old ipad completely froze up and the Geek Squad couldn't resuscitate. Had to buy a new one, no credit for the old one.

You can do all of the above. The buy back purchase won't be as much as you'd think.
you can go to the website and check the value. it may not be worth your time
