Detecting different objects near the bottom depends on their submerge level on the bottom itself. If the sunken brush or wood laydowns are submerged in the bottom (it can easily happen after while of them being there or in case of a muddy bottom), the Deeper will, of course, not be able to show that there is any contour change in the relief, even though it will show the different density (harder bottom reflections) unlike other places.
However, if those objects stay on top of the bottom, they will be showing the specifically object-formed reflections, thus you can see them in sonar readings.
