Thank you for your question Dave! For standard on site recording, monitor and viewing through a connected monitor or TV, WiFi is not required. If you wish to view the system on a mobile phone, the DVR would require a hardwired internet connection.

Yes, but you won't have the remote viewing capability. it will still record and store fore about a week. More than that if you put it on motion detection mode.
