• I think there is no difference. I think ST = Super Tower, whereas "x" denotes integrated Dolby Atmos speakers on top. But before they were produced, DT decided to only offer the largest (BP9080's) with the integrated Dolby Atmos speakers integrated on top, whereas you could add the Dolby Atmos speakers to the tops of the BP9060's, 40's, 20's. So, they dropped the "ST" idea and instead named the big ones BP9080x.
