Q: Would the 9080 line too powerful for a smaller room?
A: Most likely; yes. You could turn the bass down (there's a control knob on the back panel), but then why get them in the first place? Definitive makes several smaller models. I have an older set that are the equivalent of the BP9040s in my home gym, and the bass is almost overpowering. - Shelby
A: Yes. There are two sets of speaker wire connections. The upper set of connections are the Atmos speakers also referred to as “height speakers” by some A/V receiver/amplifier manufacturers
Q: Should I buy a separate subwoofer? I was looking at Definitive Technology's supercubes.
A: No the subs in the speakers are all you need trust me
A: You’ll have to be careful with them. The subwoofer amps, and there are two, are pretty strong. In my living room, they vibrate furniture that is 6-8 feet away from the speakers. However, the subwoofers are adjustable. You should be able to find a good compromise level for the base that won’t anger your neighbors and you can still enjoy the great sound of these speakers.
A: In my opinion, YES. The bases provide a secure anchor. Without them, I would be worried about them tipping over when touched by a child or pet. My listening area is carpeted, and I also use the 'spiked' feet on the silver bases. They give me extra confidence against tipping.
A: I'm not sure if this will help, but I took the information from Best Buy under the specifications area. The Speakers are 34.8 inches tall, 13 inches wide, 11 inches deep and weigh 37 lbs each. estimating the box size, I would guess that the boxes (2) would be about 35 to 36 inches tall by 15 to 16 inches in width, by 12 to 13 inches deep. I'm sure you could probably call Best Buy and have them email you the exact dimensions. I hope this helps.
A: Not overkill at all! I have four of these BP9080 tower speakers with a pair of SR9080 speakers and the CS9080 center speaker you mentioned. Movies, games, music, you name it, everything sounds insanely great! Totally worth the investment but watch for discounts!
A: I purchased those speakers about 8 months ago. LOVE THEM. Great sound with a built in subwoofer. Mine are set up in a game room and I use mine strictly for music, not part of a home theater system with tv. After explaining to my Best Buy sales rep how I would be using my speakers, I went with recommendations of the Best Buy sales rep and paired the speakers to a Rotel A12 (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/rotel-120w-2-0-ch-amplifier-black/5590306.p?skuId=5590306). Works beautifully for my needs; provides over the air radio, auxiliary cord input, USB input, and Bluetooth input. along with inputs from other desired sources (phono, cd, tape, etc.). As a side note, I explained that my primary "must have" for this sound system was that I want to not only hear the music, but I also wanted to go old school and FEEL that music thumping. The Rotel A12 powers these speakers beautifully without distortion (very minimal, if any) at the extreme higher volumes. Hope this helps.
