Hello Michael, There is no documented clearance specification. However, I recommend leaving a couple of inches or more of clearance above the speaker for the Bass Radiator to properly breathe. Please note that a speaker will tend to sound a bit muffled if it's placed in a tight space. I recommend pulling the speaker slightly forward to help with this. Be careful not to place the speaker on the edge to avoid the risk of it falling. Any object above the speaker should be sturdy enough to handle bass vibration. DT
