are the blacks really that horrid on this revision null

I mean, it's dark grey :) but not super bad. More noticeable when I'm watching movie trailers and such. Maybe when playing a dark game like resident evil. But after calibrations and side by side to my ips monitor, they were almost identical. Where I had people pick which one they preferred when watching 1440p content, and it was picked 4 out of the 10 times. This is a really good TN panel.

Personally, I love this monitor. Everything looks great.
