Yes - this is a 8bcp, for gaming is decent, not the best, unfortunately I bought it for 699 and a few days later went to 499 (not sure if the best buy promo is still there but if it is, go for it)

From what I had read the monitor can product over 16 million colors and is an 8-bit color monitor

Yes, However its a TN panel. If you plan to edit you may want to look into an IPS display.
