- Answer unlikely as b&w laser toner is usually a fine black powder. it should not "dry out".

- Answer Sometimes compatibility merely means the cartridge fits the printer. It doesn't necessarily mean the quality of the toner is the same as the OEM toner. I'm not promoting buying only from the OEM, just be aware that if a price seems just too good to be true that's probably the case and there could be "issues." Sometimes you will get way less than the advertised number of sheets per cartridge and then sometimes it can be a low quality printed sheet or even both. Do check closely before you jump on a low price.

- Answer The ability of the printer to print bank checks (which requires the numbers on the bottom of the check be printed in Magnetic Ink) will depend on the availability of MICR toner cartridges for this particular printer. Usually you will need to find a 3rd-party Toner company that sells their own replacement cartridge for this printer that is filled with MICR toner. There are numerous ones you can find by searching for "MICR Toner" or similar search words.
