I had considered doing the same thing and may do so but haven't tried it yet. As I understand it, the system has both an SSD and an Intel Optane module. Replacing the SSD would mean you'd need to transfer the OS from the original to the new. You MAY be able to replace the Optane module with another mSATA SSD, but I cannot confirm.
