My guess, from replacing screens, is probably about $100-150 if you can do it (you can but replacement LCD panels online), or probably about $250 or more if you have someone else do it. For a $600 machine, if you break the screen, you may just want to make it a "portable" desktop and use the HDMI port instead. Or you can search eBay for ones that have bad motherboards, etc, that you could take the screen off of.
