1. Yes, the entire case is aluminum. However, only the inside (around the keyboard and touchpad) has the brushed aluminum detail. 2. Yes, there is a thin black strip around the outside of the display. It is visible when the laptop is closed, like a thin black stripe wrapping around the lid of the laptop.
