Usually not, but it always a good idea to charge for several hours before using. Make sure you hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds and watch for the keyboard to light up. If nothing happens, take it to Geek Squad.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine came almost completely charged. You're supposed to take it out of the box, plug it in and then power it on. It should be on after you press the power button. You should return yours and try one more box.
